PREOPERATIVE

If you have any allergies or medical conditions (even if they seem mild or under control), or if you are taking any medication, you must inform the doctors.

15 days before

Analisis

You must undergo the preoperative tests requested by the clinic. An ECG is not required, except in exceptional cases.

You must discontinue topical or oral Minoxidil 15 days beforehand.

Finasterida

Continue taking Finasteride or Dutasteride and the rest of your usual medication.

Do not take aspirin, anticoagulants, or anti-inflammatory drugs. Do not take any vitamin supplements (especially vitamins E and B) or herbal products. Do not engage in sports or physical exertion.

3 days before

Do not consume alcohol. Do not smoke (nicotine). Do not consume stimulant beverages (caffeine or theine). Do not apply hair dyes or lotions.

24 hours before

Beber agua

Drink plenty of water (1.5–2 liters). In some cases, if you are nervous, it is advisable to take an anxiolytic (consult your doctor).

Day of the procedure

You must not have any active infection (flu, cold, COVID) or acute asthma.

Lavar cabeza

On the same day or the night before: shower and wash your hair with a neutral shampoo, removing any hair products (hairspray, gel).

Do not shave the hair.

Do not wear makeup or nail polish.

Camisabotones

Wear comfortable clothing, specifically a top that buttons or zips up (to allow for easy dressing without damaging the graft area after surgery). It is advisable to bring socks (to stay warm in the operating room). Do not wear watches, jewelry, chains, or earrings.

Desayuno mañan

Have breakfast (do not arrive on an empty stomach), avoiding drinks containing caffeine or theine. If the procedure begins in the morning and continues into the afternoon, you will have a meal at the clinic with the team.

Mini Medecap

It is not advisable to drive home, as you will be given medication that may cause drowsiness (having someone accompany you is recommended).

Bring the prescribed medication to the clinic.

POSTOPERATIVE

Relajado

Rest and observe relative bed rest for the two days following the transplant, and try to remain relaxed for about 10 days.

Do not touch the transplanted recipient area. Avoid bumping the transplanted area (e.g., when getting into the car).

Moisten the graft recipient area by spraying it with saline solution every hour (except while sleeping). It is also advisable to apply it to the donor area.

Hielo seco

For 2–3 days, apply ice to the forehead—one centimeter away from the transplanted hairline—and the back of the neck for 10 minutes every 2 hours. Afterward, massage the forehead, moving from the center outward.

Dormir Medecap

For the first few days, sleep on your back with your head elevated above the rest of your body—in a semi-seated position at a 45-degree angle—using a cervical travel pillow and an absorbent pad.

Agachar la cabeza

Do not bend your head or make sudden movements; avoid bending over, and if it is necessary to do so, bend at the knees.

For the three days following surgery, do not take aspirin, anticoagulants, or anti-inflammatories; do not consume caffeine, tea, or alcohol; and do not smoke.

Take the medication prescribed by the doctor.

For the first 10 days, take special care with the recipient area, avoiding excessive rubbing or friction to prevent the grafts from dislodging. Do not pick at any scabs that form; they will fall off naturally during washing. Continue to hydrate the implanted area with physiological saline until the scabs fall off; if you experience significant itching, you may substitute this with thermal water (available at pharmacies). The scabs should disappear within 15 days. If they persist, please contact the clinic.

Dolor

Seek urgent medical attention in the event of pain, excessive swelling of the forehead, continuous heavy bleeding, excessive itching, discharge, or fever.

Keep your head uncovered. After the scabs have been removed, you may occasionally wear a cap or a loose-fitting hat for a short period (for the least amount of time possible). You must not wear any type of helmet for 3 to 4 months.

Relajado

Remain relaxed for the 10 days following the procedure.

SPORT

Do not expose the head to the sun (if possible, until 2–3 months have passed). Once the scabs have come off, you may use sunscreen (SPF > 50, clear spray).

Avoid saunas and swimming pool water during the first month after the transplant due to the chlorine.

Do not engage in physical exercise for 15 days after your transplant. Perform moderate exercise after one month.

HAIRCUT

Wait fifteen days before cutting the hair in the donor area and one month for the recipient area.

Do not use an electric trimmer for at least 4 months to avoid pulling out the hair; it is better to use scissors. After 1 month, you may use other hair products (dye, hairspray, wax, mousse).

Follow the recommended pre- and post-operative guidelines and medication to maintain aesthetic results over time and halt the loss of the remaining hair.

Minoxidil use will resume after the scabs have shed (10–15 days). You must continue taking Finasteride or Dutasteride without interruption.
